Well.. Is pattern cutting strictly a dull subject? I have to say it's a guilty of pleasure of mine. I wouldn't say I have ever wanted to be a pattern cutter nor am I, but when designing I always think of the pattern, and when I see clothes that I admire I instinctively try and work out what their pattern looked like. Its second nature to me-I've always done it since I was making clothes for my dolls.
So today I'm pattern cutting.. as I have been for the last week or so. And enjoying it. I'm working on a collection for off schedule London Fashion Week for Mrs Jones. It's all a bit rushed so instead off drafting the pattern for scratch I'm making used of other tried and tested patterns and altering them. Today I'm working on a raglan sleeved bolero type jacket/tracksuit top. So I have started with a simplicity pattern (the shame!) for a tracksuit top. It doesn't have raglan sleeves so i have to work this out. It's the part that takes the longest but once that is done the rest will be pretty quick. then I will be able to make up the toile and check out all the bits that need altering!
